Godin LGX

Godin LGX Series Overview

As part of the Signature line by Godin Guitars, the Godin LGX model is a robust rock machine, equipped with a couple of Seymour Duncan custom humbuckers and a stylish finish with its trans. colors for its figured Maple top. This guitar appeals mainly to the sonic power musicians out there, who can enjoy some great electronic arrangements.

Godin LGX-SA

The Godin LGX-SA introduces very important modifications to the standard Godin LGX. First and foremost, as the name implies, the addition of a built-in 13-pin computer synth access for a superior and user friendly note tracking. With this change, this now 3-voice guitar can reproduce electric sounds given its standard magnetic pickups as well as acoustic sounds with its transducer system on the bridge, plus the myriad of possibilities given by the synth itself. The transducer produces an exophonic signal, meaning a separate signal for each one of the 6 strings, which in collaboration with the custom preamp EQ allows a much easier performance without demanding such a sensitive change in technique from players as other synth-guitars in the past. But not all the changes are on the electronics, a significant difference is introduced in this model, in comparison with the previous one, with the Ebony fretboard use to boost the synth tracking

Godin LGX Standard

As we said above, there’s the original model in the LGX family, the LGX Standard. Although the model may still be available in some selected stores, it is discontinued which means Godin is no longer producing it. So, as you can imagine, the standard LGX model is very much like the SA and T models, minus the changes introduced like the tremolo system and the Ebony fretboard, but it can stand as a distinctive and strong 2-voice guitar on its own. With its 5-way switch applied to its two hums and its switch/blend between acoustic and electric sounds, this instrument can offer a broad spectrum of tonal possibilities. So if you like this potent and versatile guitar and can live without the additions introduced by the later models you must certainly should consider this one. Only one advice, if you’re interested on this guitar, move quickly, because once they go out of stock is not lightly it’ll be restock. Even more so, as any other discontinued product, you might get crazy discounted prices.

The original Godin LGX came in the following finishes:

  1. Trans Blue
  2. Trans Dark Red
  3. Cognac Burst
