Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin
Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin Overview
The Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin is an interesting improvement from the original Godin 5th Avenue hollowbody archtop acoustic guitar. It introduces a single coil p90 pickup on the neck along with two knobs for control, one for volume and one for tone. This new changes to this guitar inspired by the classic archtop guitars from the 50s add more presence and clarity to the already richer and more dynamical tones of the original 5th Avenue. This instrument is now able to reach acoustical as well as electrical effectiveness of tone, what has granted it the Guitar Player’s Acoustic Guitar Award for the 2009 Reader’s Choice Award. And all this versatility, quality and style without ruining your budget, going at ~$700.
As part of the 5th Avenue family, it presents some of the classical must commonly known features of an archtop acoustic guitar like polish finish, floating pickguard, contoured headstock or f-holes on each side of the molded arched top that provides its unique vintage spirit, mixed together with some modifications Godin has made on them such as the Graphtech adjustable Tusq bridge or the p90 pup and knobs mentioned before to introduce them to a much more sophisticated and complex spectrum of tonal possibilities for modern playability.

Godin 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II
Godin 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II
The Godin 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II is yet another step up from its predecessors in the 5th Avenue family, the original Godin 5th Avenue and the 5th Avenue Kingpin. As an improvement over a guitar that already introduced some electrical features to an archtop acoustic classical guitar, the main changes on the Godin 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II are the 2 Godin Kingpin p90 single coil pickups and the controls, a 3-way toggle switch with a knob for volume and another one for tone.
As all the other guitars on the Godin 5th Avenue family, it holds some more classical features to archtop guitars like the floating pickguard, the f-holes on the sides and the contoured headstock, but introducing the unique touches that Godin adds to this vintage flavored one-of-a-kind instrument such as the adjustable Graphtech Tusq bridge, the pickups and the controls, altogether creating a more dynamic tonal range embedded in a beautiful satin sheen exterior, very popular at the end of the 19th century.
